Motorcycle Rider Education - Basic Rider Course (BRC)

All classes are held at 88 Bassett Road, North Haven, CT
Entrance is through the main doors in the back parking lot.

REGISTRATION (ONLINE ONLY) To register for a course, please complete the following:
• Email and request the current schedule.
• Participants should select three (3) classes that fit their schedule; they will be automatically enrolled in the first available course.
• The class enrollment will be confirmed via email. If all of the class options are filled, the student will be contacted and asked to choose another class/set of dates.
• A registration link will be sent via email after a seat is reserved.
• Classes are offered from April trough October.

REQUIRED RANGE GEAR FOR RIDING
• Helmets can be borrowed, or participants can bring their own. Full-face,3/4, and half helmets are permitted as long as they meet Department of Transportation (DOT) certification requirements.
• Long-sleeved shirt or jacket.
• Full-fingered gloves, leather preferred.
• Long, ankle-length pants (denim or other heavy material).
• Leather boots or leather athletic shoes (over-the-ankle style).

BASIC RIDER COURSE (BRC) Designed for students who do not have a motorcycle operator's license or a motorcycle. This course is required to apply for a Connecticut Motorcycle License. Motorcycles will be supplied. Class size is limited to 12 riders.
Instructional time: (5) hours of classroom instruction, (3) hours of online self-guided eCourse, and (10) hours of range training.
Successful completion of the BRC course requires to: (1) complete all course assignments, (2) attend all sessions, (3) pass a knowledge test, and (4) pass an on-motorcycle skill test that consists of exercises from the course. Fee: $240 non-refundable.

BRC Requirements:
• Valid driver's license or a Connecticut DMV issued motor vehicle operator learner's permit.
• Participants should be able to balance a two-wheeled vehicle.
• Have the physical ability to operate a motorcycle.
• Access to computer, printer, and Internet.
• A valid email address is required to obtain the eCourse login link.
• Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
• Participants less than 18 years old must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver in order to be accepted into the class.
• All participants must complete the waiver form.

IMPORTANT! NO EXCEPTIONS.
• A $40 fee will be charged for rescheduling.
• Students must reschedule within two weeks prior to the start of the originally scheduled class and should be sure to double-check the dates.
• ALL sessions must be attended. There are no exceptions. Students who are LATE or MISS a class will be unable to complete the course.
