Rashmi Talpade Art Show at GCC

Gateway Community College (GCC) is pleased to announce the opening of a show of new works by Rashmi Talpade, a professional artist from India, at the college’s NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery. The show opened on February 1 and will run through March 10, 2018. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery (Room S101) in the South building of GCC.
Talpade holds a Fine Arts degree from Bombay, with additional specialization in photography and ceramics. Through her photo collages, ink drawings and paper sculptures she explores the world around her. Her work has been exhibited and has been purchased by private collectors in United States, India, Middle East, and Europe. Since immigrating to Connecticut in 1991, Talpade has exhibited her paintings, drawings, collages and installations in the New Haven and Hartford areas, as well as in New York. She has lectured about her work statewide and in major corporate settings and organizations, including the New Britain Museum of American Art and GE Financial. Talpade has received a visual arts fellowship from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism and has served as a co-coordinator and director for City-Wide Open Studios. She currently sits on the Visual Arts Committee at Artspace, New Haven and the Visual Arts Advisory Group at the Arts Council of New Haven.
