Images of America at GCC April 8-13, 2016

IMAGES OF AMERICA EXHIBIT AT GATEWAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE APRIL 8 -13

Jeffrey Fletcher’s thought provoking exhibit, Images of America, will be on display in the NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery at Gateway Community College from April 8 – 13. The collection features decades of memorabilia that reflects the African-American experience throughout American history.

“The key to the future is the past,” says curator Jeffrey Fletcher, CEO of the African American Collection. “African American history is no longer a topic of conversation in most homes, schools or churches across our country. This collection/exhibition will give everyone an opportunity to experience a powerful visual display of what motivated the trailblazers and pioneers who forged the way for equality as well as freedom for African Americans today.”

The exhibit opens daily on Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 11:00am with narrated tours every hour until 7:00 p.m. Tours will also run on Saturday, April 9 from 10:00 AM to noon. Mr. Fletcher will begin each tour with a brief presentation followed by a guided tour of the collection.

Images of America is a free exhibit and is open to the public. There will be a closing reception on Wednesday, April 13 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The exhibit is made possible with support from the Gateway Community College Black Student Association and the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Programs.
