Motorcycle Rider Education - Returning Rider Basic Rider Course (RRBRC)

All classes are held at 88 Bassett Road, North Haven, CT
Entrance is through the main doors in the back parking lot.

REGISTRATION (ONLINE ONLY) To register for a course, please complete the following:
• Email and request the current schedule.
• Participants should select three (3) classes that fit their schedule; they will be automatically enrolled in the first available course.
• The class enrollment will be confirmed via email. If all of the class options are filled, the student will be contacted and asked to choose another class/set of dates.
• A registration link will be sent via email after a seat is reserved.
• Classes are offered from April trough October.

Designed for riders who have not been riding for some time or who have been riding on a permit and wish to refresh their basic skills and/ or earn an endorsement/license for a motorcycle.
This course is not intended for a novice rider learning to ride for the first time. Training motorcycles will be provided for this course. Class size is limited to 12 riders. Fee: $150 non-refundable.

Instructional time: (3) hours On-Line eCourse, (3) hours BRC Level II Classroom, (5) hours Range Training. This class is only offered on Wednesdays. Each participant must take part in all RRBRC activities and skill assessments.
Goals for the course include refining basic motorcycle skills and techniques, increasing knowledge of risk and risk management, improving perception and situational awareness, and gaining insight to behaviors and attitudes.

RRBRC Requirements:
• Valid driver's license or a Connecticut DMV issued motor vehicle operator learner's permit.
• Students should be able to balance a two-wheeled vehicle.
• A minimum of 500 street riding miles, or more than six (6) months of riding experience.
• Participants less than 18 years old must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver in order to be accepted into the class.
• Have the physical ability to operate a motorcycle.
• Access to computer, printer, and Internet.
• A valid email address is required to obtain the eCourse login link.
• All participants must complete the waiver form.

Participants must be able to:
• Coordinate clutch lever and throttle use to control the motorcycle smoothly.
• Upshift and downshift smoothly.
• Stop the motorcycle properly at a designated point.
• Negotiate typical roadway turns and curves.
• Must have prior motorcycling experience, and will be asked to complete on/cycle competency assessment upon arrival to class.

IMPORTANT! NO EXCEPTIONS.
• A $40 fee will be charged for rescheduling.
• Students must reschedule within two weeks prior to the start of the originally scheduled class and should be sure to double-check the dates.
• ALL sessions must be attended. There are no exceptions. Students who are LATE or MISS a class will be unable to complete the course.
