Fellow Educators,
Gateway’s commencement last week was the highlight of our year, when I am always grateful and proud to stand up and acknowledge the accomplishments of our students and to celebrate what lies ahead for them. The end of the spring semester and the beginning of summer is always a time of excitement and change, and this time is no different.
I write to share with you news that affects both Gateway and myself. I have been offered and have accepted a position as part of the Strategic Partnership & Enterprise Performance division serving all of CT State Community College under Executive Vice President Dr. Thomas Coley. The division is responsible for grant administration and development, institutional effectiveness, strategic partnerships associated with advancement, business and industry, as well as P-20 initiatives that support collaboration between college-level academics, K-12 and workforce training. This position will allow me to continue to serve in a new capacity that leverages my experiences and connections on a statewide, regional and national levels.
What lies ahead for Gateway will be a year of opportunity highlighted by a search for its next leader, including welcoming Dr. Scott Kalicki as the Interim CEO. Dr. Kalicki previously served as interim CEO at Manchester Community College, and is the current Interim Vice President of Campus Operations for CT State. He will provide leadership and stability while the search for a permanent CEO takes place starting in the Fall semester.
My new appointment will be effective June 30. In the meantime, I will be making every effort to ensure that the CEO’s office is ready for its next leader. I and Dr. Kalicki will continue to provide updates so that the college community will continue to be informed and prepared for the upcoming year.
Gateway has held a special place in my heart for a very long time, and it will continue to do so. It has been a privilege to serve as your CEO these last three years, and I look forward to continuing to work with the Gateway community in the years to come.
