Be sure to add both Gateway Community College’s federal school code of 008037 and Capital Community College’s federal school code of 007635 to your FAFSA. Gateway Community College is transitioning into Connecticut State Community College beginning in the Fall 2023 semester. Connecticut State Community College will be using Capital Community College’s current federal school code of 007635 once the transition is complete, so this information is needed to process your financial aid application for the Fall 2023 semester and the 2023-2024 academic year. Please note that the US Department of Education will update the college name on the FAFSA in the summer of 2023.
To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), you will need:
- After electronically signing and submitting the application, you will receive a “confirmation message.” That message will display a confirmation number which serves as validation that you have successfully submitted your FAFSA.
- Please note that submission of your FAFSA does not mean you are ready to register.
- Your FAFSA will then be reviewed by the federal government and forwarded to the college.
- You should receive a response in approximately 7-10 business days.
- The Financial Aid Office processes FAFSA applications in the order received. Unsigned or incomplete FAFSA applications (i.e., rejected ISIR records) cannot be considered for financial assistance until corrections have been submitted.
- You will be notified by email when the school has received your FAFSA application, and it has been accepted.
- You should track your application and complete any unsatisfied requirements. You can track your application online at myCommNet.
