Welcome to the Counseling and Wellness Center here at Gateway Community College! Attending College can be a stressful experience. Research has found that along with the recent pandemic 80% of college students report that COVID-19 has negatively impacted their mental health, (Active minds).
The Counseling & Wellness Center provides dual services:
Provides mental health support, building positive coping strategies, while promoting personal growth. The Counseling Services Staff are Licensed Mental Health Practitioners who provide sensitive and responsive supports to the needs of the diverse student population at Gateway Community College. The services provide a safe, confidential* and supportive environment for students that need assistance navigating the emotional aspect of the college system and daily life.
Counseling Services offers short term counseling and consultation, free of charge, to all students. Referrals to treatment providers in the community are made available if needed. We are committed to the well-being of our students and welcome the opportunity to assist you in any way we can.
Family Economic Security Program (FESP) is a grant funded program that provides wrap around services students with academic, career, financial and personal support.
The Center for Students & Families (CSF) promote the well-being of students through case-management and supportive services following the core services areas of Academics, Work and Careers, Financial Services and Student Success.
*Exceptions to confidentiality include danger to self or others, child abuse, and elder abuse.
Counselors are available to meet with students via in person, telephone, or tele-health appointments.
