ABOUT THE ATI TEAS

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) measures basic essential skills in the academic content areas of reading, mathematics, science, and English and language usage. The objectives assessed on the TEAS exam are those which health science educators deemed most appropriate and relevant to measure entry-level academic readiness of nursing and allied health program applicants.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE ATI TEAS?

  • Create an account on www.atitesting.com and log in to see a listing of Gateway Community College test dates. Please ensure you choose Gateway CC Connecticut as your institution of choice in your ACCOUNT. Please use GOOGLE CHROME browser.
  • Click on “Online Store” then TEAS®: Follow prompts, choose test date, and add to cart for purchase.

Students are required to pay a non-refundable proctor fee to Gateway Community College in addition to ATI’s test registration fee. Fees are as follows:

  • Connecticut Community College Students –$15.00
  • Non-Connecticut Community College Students – $35.00
  • TEAS Proctor Fee Payment Form
  • Cash or Credit/Debit payments must be made to the Business Office (N216) on the second floor during their regular business hours prior to taking the test.
  • The ATI testing website has many resources available for purchase, including Learning Strategies, TEAS Pre-test Study Manual and TEAS Online Practice assessments.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. Why can’t I see Gateway’s dates on the ATI website?
    • you have not created an ATI account
    • you are using another browser other than GOOGLE Chrome
    • you do not have Gateway CC Connecticut listed as your institution of choice in your account

  2. How soon can I receive my scores?

    You can receive your scores immediately after testing.

  3. What should I bring on the day of the test?
    • Valid photo ID (driver’s license/ permit, state ID, passport, or permanent resident card)
    • pencil/pen

  4. Can I use my personal calculator during the test?

    No. You are only allowed to use the embedded calculator which will pop-up during the MATH section of the test.

  5. How can I pay my proctor fee?

    Students can pay their proctor fee to the Business Office before or to the Placement Testing Center on the day of the test. If you are paying your fee on the day of the test (when the Business Office is closed) you must pay by check or money order. No Cash or Credit/Debit card payments accepted!

  6. Where can I park on the day of the test?

    Free parking is available in the Temple Street Parking Garage. You will need to pull a parking ticket and have your ticket validated at the Security Desk on the first floor of the College.

  7. Do I have to wait for a specific amount of time to retake the test?

    There is no waiting period to retake the test, but you should give yourself adequate time to study.

  8. I have a documented disability; can I receive academic adjustments for the test?

    Students with documented disabilities must contact Ronald Chomicz or Sue Adley (Student Accessibility Services Coordinators) at (203) 285-2231 or  or to receive academic adjustments.

    To obtain adjustments, you must schedule an appointment with Ron or Samantha and provide documentation which describes your disability and supports your need to receive adjustments. This should be done 2 weeks prior to your test appointment. Academic adjustments for testing will only be provided to students who have completed this process.

  9. What happens in the event of inclement weather?

    In the event of inclement weather, students will receive an email with instructions about rescheduling their test. Please check the college’s website for a closing notice. If the college is closed, the test is cancelled.

  10. Will my scores be automatically sent to my institution for which I am applying?

    Scores will be sent automatically for students who have applied within the CT Community College System. Students who have applied outside the CT Community College System will need to have ATI send their scores to their institution of choice.

  11. What should I do if I missed my test appointment?

    Gateway cannot refund payments or reschedule tests if a student has missed or arrived late for their appointment. Please contact ATI testing at 800-667-7531 if you have further questions and concerns.
