The office of Continuing Education and Community Services provides affordable learning opportunities for individuals, business employees, members of community organizations, and others. Many of the non-credit courses are designed for personal development and recreational/leisure interests.  Motorcycle rider and boating certification courses are also offered. The Connecticut Department of Education has approved the College as a site for Continuing Teacher Certification.

“ed2go” – Online Courses

Update your skills, discover a new talent, or chart a career path at your own pace, and at your convenience, with our online courses. 

Each “ed2go” course runs six weeks and consists of 12 lessons.  Instructor-facilitated classes include interactive quizzes, assignments and tutorials.  In addition, you can interact with your fellow students in an online discussion room.

All you need to get started is a computer, internet access, and an e-mail account.

Here are just a few of the many courses offered:

Introduction to Microsoft Excel

Work with numbers? Then you need to learn Excel. In this course you'll discover dozens of shortcuts and tricks for setting up fully formatted worksheets quickly and efficiently. You'll also learn the best ways to sort and analyze data, create custom charts and graphs, create 3-dimensional workbooks, build links between files, endow your worksheets with decision-making capabilities, and automate oft-repeated tasks with macros and buttons.

Creating Web Pages

Create and post your very own Web site on the Internet using HTML in this extensive, hands-on, six week workshop. First, you'll learn about the capabilities of the World Wide Web and the fundamentals of web design. Then, with your instructor's patient guidance, you'll plan the content, structure and layout of your Web site.

A to Z Grant Writing

This course will equip you with the skills and tools you need to enter the exciting field of grant writing!  You'll learn how to raise needed funds by discovering how and where to look for potential funders who are a good match for your organization.  You'll also learn how to network and develop true partnerships with a variety of funders, how to organize a successful grant-writing campaign, and how to put together a complete proposal package.

To Register for “ed2go” Online Courses

  • Log onto and click on “View Catalog”
  • Once you have chosen a course, click on “Enroll Now” and follow the instructions for creating an account.
  • To complete your enrollment, click on “Purchase Course”.
  • You will then receive a confirmation e-mail from “ed2go”.
  • This will be followed by an e-mail from Gateway Community College with a registration form and instructions explaining how to complete the form and submit it along with payment to the Registrar’s office.
