About the Common Application
The Common Application (the Common App) is an undergraduate application used by numerous colleges and universities across the country and around the world. Students transferring out of Gateway may be required to apply to their destination institution using the Common App.

Requesting Recommendations, Evaluations and Transcripts from Gateway
The College Report
At this time, Gateway Community College does not participate in online College Report. Students are instructed to do as follows:
Login to the common application and in the Recommendation section, click "Invite Registrar." See screenshot below.
A pop-up window will appear asking for information about each Recommender.
List either Mr. Jim Buccini or Dr. Matthew Long in your Registrar Request, including their email address: email@example.com, or firstname.lastname@example.org and click "Send Invite."
The individual will be listed below with an "offline" status, indicating the report is to be completed offline.
Close this window to return to the main recommender section of the Common Application.
The "Registrar" section should now appear with a green check mark before it, and will indicate that the registrar has opted out of online reporting.
Download the "offline form" (Sample Here) and bring it to the Office of Student Development for Mr. Buccini or Dr. Long to complete.
Transcripts are sent directly from Gateway to your destination institution. Students may submit a Transcript Request through MyCommnet or by visiting the Office of the Registrar (N214).
Academic Evaluators and Advisors
An Academic Evaluator or Advisor is usually the department chair, or faculty/staff coordinator for your academic program, or another faculty member who has had significant experience with a student. If you have been working with a counselor in the Student Success & Counseling Center, you may opt to list him or her as your advisor.
The same process should be followed for Academic Evaluators and Advisors.
Some faculty may opt to complete the evaluation online, while some may prefer a downloadable offline form (Sample Here).
Students are recommended to speak with Evaluator/Advisors prior to sending an invite.
For students applying in the middle of the semester, some offices of admissions will require a midterm report to be completed and submitted. This form is downloaded under the Recommenders section and presented to each of your instructors. Course information, your grade, and the instructor's signature is required for each course.
