New Student Orientation (NSO)
New Student Orientation is Gateway's program to assist new students in transitioning into the college environment and become familiar with the various services, resources, and opportunities available at Gateway.
The primary purpose of the NSAR is to receive advising and register for your first semester of courses. New Student Orientation, on the other hand, allows students to learn about all aspects of college life from financial aid and student involvement to academic success and library resources. It also offers students an opportunity to interact with college faculty and staff as well as meet other new and returning students.
Do I attend all the Sessions?
No, New Student Orientation is only one day and you only have to sign up for one session and to stay for its entirety. We also encourage you to sign up your parents or spouse to go to the Parent/Spouse Orientation so they can receive vital information on how to help you be successful in College.
Registration for the sessions are conducted online. Click here to register for a New Student Orientation session. To register you will need:
-
A working email address: for automated reminders and to receive your pre-session packet
-
Your Student (Banner) ID number: this can be found on your Admissions letter in the top right hand corner
-
Your cell phone number: to receive a text message reminder and any last minute information from the College
If you are a student who has a documented disability and may require any accommodations while attending a New Student Orientation session, please submit the information requested during the online registration process and contact the Student Disability Services (SDS) Office. Students are encouraged to make requests at least 48 hours in advance of the session.
