Alternative Spring Break

Applications Now Being Accepted for the Alternative Spring Break Trip to Annville, Pennsylvania

We are very excited to announce that Student Community Outreach Programs through the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Programs along with the Center for Service-Learning will be leading an Alternative Spring Break to Annville, Pennsylvania in March 2013 through Habitat for Humanity’s Collegiate Challenge!

This program presents an exciting educational immersion experience for students to learn more about the diverse political and social issues that contribute to the existence of substandard housing in Eastern Pennsylvania, while witnessing, engaging with, and reflecting upon the efforts being undertaken by community members to eradicate this need.  Students will be spending a week volunteering with a  Habitat for Humanity affiliate, contributing valuable service hours towards the construction of a single-family home.  In addition, students will have opportunities to participate in community-centric reflection activities and educational opportunities.  This all culminates in an amazing, one-of-a-kind opportunity for students to experience a new culture, improve their resumes, expand their horizons, gain valuable job readiness skills, and contribute valuable service hours to a community in need.

The application—please read directions carefully!—is attached to this message and is due by Friday, January 25th 2013 at 5:00PM to the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Programs located in Suite S110.
