Thali, Thali Too Chef, Prasad Chirnomula Headlines May 3 C.O.O.K. Dinner

On Wednesday, May 3, the Gateway Community College Foundation Chefs Of Our Kitchen (C.O.O.K.) series will feature Chef Prasad Chirnomula, the executive chef and owner of the popular Indian restaurant chain Thali, Thali Too, India and Mexican restaurant Oaxaca Kitchen for an special evening that includes a cooking demonstration, fine dining and wine pairings.

Chirnomula is considered one of the top chefs in Indian cuisine. David Rosengarten calls him "the most exciting Indian chef in the United States." ​

Born and raised in India, Chirnomula always had a passion for food, and started his culinary training at an early age. He came to the United States in 1985 and co-owned, operated, and launched six successful restaurants throughout New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts by 1988. Chirnomula is passionate about his goal to change how Americans view Indian food. In addition to running his five restaurants, leads tasting tours of India, hosts private tasting dinners, teaches cooking classes, and offers his services at multiple charity events.

The GCC Foundation’s annual C.O.O.K. Series features unique culinary experiences with renowned chefs and restauranteurs demonstrations by the region’s finest chefs, serving up a wide range of gastronomical delights. Join us for a delightful evening that includes:

  • 6 p.m. pre-event reception with wine, beer, and soft drinks.
  • Hors d’oeuvres in Gateway’s NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery.
  • Cookbook, memoir or recipe booklet.
  • Chance opportunity to meet the author/chef
  • 6:45 p.m. three courses of delicious food prepared by the featured chef and GCC Hospitality Management students, served in Café Vincenzo
  • The opportunity to watch and learn culinary techniques and ask about food preparation techniques and recipe secrets
  • Wine and/or beer pairings with the meal
