According to the National Weather Service (noaa.gov), “Climate signals and evolving oceanic and atmospheric conditions… indicate that an above normal Atlantic hurricane season is likely in 2013. This outlook calls for a 70% chance of an above-normal season.” In response to these predictions and the impact already felt by hurricanes Sandy and Irene, the New Haven chapter of SCORE, housed in the Small Business Center at Gateway Community College, is offering a series of free workshops in Business Disaster Recovery Planning.
The first of three disaster preparedness workshops to be held this summer takes place this Thursday, July 25 in the GCC Small Business Center from 8:00 to 9:30 am. Registration and sign-in begins at 7:45 am. Workshop topics include disaster preparedness planning, recovery planning and checklist preparation, crisis communication techniques and small business resources.
Pre-registration is encouraged, but not mandatory. Call (203) 865-7645. Gateway Community College’s Small Business Center is located in S105 at 20 Church Street in New Haven. Parking is validated for participants who park in the Temple Street Garage (George Street entrance recommended). Ticket will be validated at the college.
Additional workshops are scheduled for Thursday, August 15, and Friday, September 27.
